Whittle a sycamore canoe video, stars on the beach, foraging courses, Easter and Summer Camps at Trill and more!
The glorious warmer weather has seen my son and I doing some more sedentary things… here is a short video of the two of us making a mini canoe – working together with a knife and baton makes easy work of the usually time-consuming whittling:
Star on the Beach
On a trip to the world famous fossilising beach of Charmouth on Monday we found a star in a stone – look closer!:
We found out that the star shape comes from a fossilised sea lily called a Crinoid. These creatures are still around today…though the one we found was probably around about 180 million years ago! Crinoid are a half animal, half plants and attach themselves to the seabed, or even floating debris. For more info click the link http://www.fossil-zone.co.uk/products/british-fossils/crinoid
