Art of Mentoring SW Mayday/Beltane gathering

The Art of Mentoring / Nature culture network as it is increasingly becoming known. I would say that the AoM is a must for anyone interested in mentoring, tangible nature connection, and indigenous wisdom in a modern world. This is all about how to connect kids to nature and themselves, and how to run teams and communities based on nature’s cycles. This has something profound to offer very experienced facilitators as well as entry level.

The southwest group meets a few times a year and this Beltane we met at LINDA LEMIEUX’s place near Chagford again. Linda is a fab basket maker, weaver and outdoor educator who works with wildwoods n willow. After 24 hours of meeting, being crafty, having sitspot time, sharing food, stories, songs and news, the children having fun making traps, swings, playing… we lit the huge bonfire made by Pete and Ollie. Ollie Hornbeam has a lovely nature awareness blog called nature connection – he offers courses too.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of the fire. The first picture shows us all gathered, momentarily distracted by me, wondering what to do with the blackbird’s nest we founds before the fire was lit…and what a fab fire it was! Happy beltane all, may your summer be fruitful!
