| storytelling and storymaking | ||
| Storytelling is one of the most ancient teaching methods known to us. Most of the stories I tell are about things in Nature and have an ecological or environmental message, though some are just told for fun. Many of the stories are from cultures that live or lived close to the Earth, close to Nature, like Australian Aboriginal, Native American, Bushmen and other African Tribal cultures. They believe that humans are part of Nature, not in any way separate or above it. | ||
| The strand that links this web of stories is my belief that stories are one of the best ways to share ecological values and attitudes with people of all ages. Hidden in the stories are concepts like sustainability, taking only what we need, citizenship, stewardship and care-taking, living in balance, working with Nature and respect for All our Relations. Storytelling is a way of spreading concepts and values without saying 'you must do things this way'. I hope these stories also impart a sense of wonder and love for the world we are part of. | ||

| What kind of events does Wholeland offer? |
Good old storytelling, accompanied by
musical instruments from around the world for groups and classes of all
sizes. The way the storytelling session works is someone from the
audience gets to choose the next story from Chris's story bag. Chris
chooses the props and off we go into story world. Choose from:
Storytelling and story-making workshops for KS2 classes: Great for literacy! Good fun and inspiring. You and your class can couple of hours to a whole school day listening to, creating and then telling stories. Chris likes to work outdoors for part of these workshops, using found natural objects to inspire story-making and character creation. We always share our stories together or in small groups at the end of the day. Workshop themes include creation tales, how did I get here? and epic journeys, transformational journeys, saxon kennings
