inspirational party ideas
  .
These party ideas are aimed at younger people, but that does not mean that adults don't want them too! There are a few ideas of party themes below. If they are not quite what you are looking for and you think I might be able to do something you would like, contact me and we'll see what we can some up with!

Didgeridoo and Songlines 30 people max This party blend two of Aboriginal Australia’s most famous aspects. I will arrive with my collection of didgeridoos. With stories and lively banter I will give insight to where ‘didges’ come from, how they are made, and demonstrate how they are played. I will teach basic drone, noises and rhythms. There is the option of painting cardboard ‘didges’. I will also demonstrate the principals of circular breathing which is great fun to watch! Songlines are ‘routemap-songs’. As an aboriginal person sings his songline he sings the world into existence. The ‘songlines’ game is an activity that teaches aidless navigation and involves two teams creating their own songlines and going off in search of their hidden treasure…

The wonderous tree planting wizard! 30 people max Plant a tree to celebrate the occasion! The tree planting is proceeded with a quest to find out the planetary benefits of planting trees. The quest takes the form of some fun nature games to engage the senses and bring us closer to nature and the ecosystem into which the tree will be planted! Its about an hour and includes a free tree!

Survival Camp 10 people max This party is about developing primitive living and survival skills. To begin we make camp. This involves making shelter, digging the fire pit and gathering supplies. We may do some crafty things like making string from plant fibres and making rush baskets. We will also be learning to move silently and invisibly. I will light the fire by friction and our wild food fritters, ash cakes and sausages will be cooked on the fire! It’s a fun way to learn about the many and varied uses of plants and other natural materials. The day will be a lovely intermingling of stories and practical activities ending with a Native American style Talking Stick Circle.

Rites of Passage 8 people max

VISION QUEST or SWEAT LODGE These parties or events are aimed at young adults. They are intended to mark the coming of age, the beginning of adulthood in a powerful and magical way. Both events take place over two days and a night. Sweat lodge is a Native American ceremonial ‘sauna’ built from saplings. A large fire is built to heat up rocks which are then placed in a pit in the lodge. The party involves the participants in all stages of the sweat lodge. Vision quest is based on another rite of passage...namely going and being alone in nature for three days and nights in order to receive wisdom, medicine or inspiration for the next stage in life.

Explorers of the Wild 10 people max

This party is about developing a deeper connection with the natural world. We will learn about ‘owl vision’, and enhance our perception of nature with blindfold walks and stalks and crawling about in the grass with a magnifying glass. Learn to navigate without a compass and find hidden treasure. I will introduce some wild food, medicinal plants and animal tracks, show how to attract small birds and share knowledge about bird language, but most of all we will be learning about our wonderful natural heritage. I can come to you or we can meet up somewhere wild and explore from there.

How much does it cost? The price includes a 10% donation to Survival International. In some cases we can bargain or barter but the basic price is £90 for a 2 hour party, £160 for 4 hours, £240 for 8 and £360 for the 24 hr overnighters.
How do I make a booking? Call Chris on 01395 568349 or email chris@wholeland.org.uk to discuss ideas and/or check availability. You will then be sent a booking form with the terms and conditions. The booking form is returned, usually with a deposit. Booking done!
